It’s hard to resist a scoop of ice-cream especially when the temperatures are soaring. At the same time, it’s hard not to notice your growing waistline in your swimsuit and compare it with those envious figures in the pool or a beach.
It’s cheer up time for all of us, who watch our waistlines before giving-in to those sinfully yummy desserts. Manufacturers have come up with low-fat, low-calorie and even zero-fat ice creams which is a great hit among the fitness conscious consumers.
While ice-creams are a hot favorite, there are a couple of low-fat deserts that you could indulge in without feeling guilty. Check them out.

Gelato – According to caffegelato, Gelato is Italy’s version of ice cream, and has significantly less butterfat than ice cream’s typical 18 and 26 percent. However, less fat does not mean less taste. With the lower butterfat content, gelato is less solidly frozen than ice cream and melts in the mouth faster.

Water-Ice - This is also a frozen dessert by mixing flavorings(typically fruit juices but also coffee and chocolate) with ice. A popular variant, called “gelati,” layers water ice and frozen custard, frozen yogurt, or soft-serve ice cream together as a parfait.

Frozen Yogurt- Frozen yogurt is a refreshing, tangy dessert that combines the flavors and textures of ice cream and sherbet. Typically frozen yogurt will contain low- or no-fat yogurt, sweetener, gelatin, corn syrup, coloring and flavoring has a much lower fat content.

Smoothie - A smoothie is a blended beverage made from natural ingredients; usually fruits and juices but sometimes other natural flavors such as chocolate, peanut butter or green tea. Many smoothies use ice or frozen fruit to make them into cold partially frozen beverages. They resemble milkshakes in the sense that they have a thicker consistency than slush drinks, but unlike milkshakes, they are often non-dairy and do not contain ice cream.
Go-ahead and indulge yourself and stop worrying about your waistline!

That is wonderful to know so many good options for the calorie consious person. But the thing is ’availability’; will it be available at every possible places as other icecreams are or not!

You are right about that aditi, there are options available locally too, of course, another good idea is to innovate recipes at home with the available ingredients taking a cue from the article:)
